Valley Storm Shelters is a producer member of the NSSA (National Storm Shelter Association). To become a producer member the following was required:
-Three independent engineering and consulting companies completed a structural analysis of our shelter and concluded that our design meets and exceeds the requirements proscribed in the American Institute of Steel Construction, (AISC) 350-05 using either allowable strength design method or load resistance factor design method when under tornado wind loads as proscribed in the American Society of Civil Engineers, (ASCE) 7-05 and FEMA 361.
-The shelter was tested at the Wind Science and Engineering Research Center at Texas Tech. University

-Each shelter comes with a serial numbered seal and certificate provided by the NSSA. The certificate states that the NSSA member attests that this shelter’s design, construction, and installation comply with the ICC/NSSA 500-2008, (International Code Council/National Storm Shelter Association) standard for design and construction of storm shelters and the tornado design criteria for safe rooms presented in FEMA 320-2008, “taking shelter from the storm.”
